Lawrence Leatherwood is a Seattle native who grew up in Jimi Hendrix’s neighborhood in Seattle’s Central District. Influenced by the local indie-rock-funk-alternative scene of Seattle’s 90’s, this mature solo debut album from this singer songwriter will rock you, soothe you, groove you and move you with some deep and heavy NW funky soul. Intricate layered guitars, dripping with blues interweave and carry you on waves of melodic soul rock. Unique vocals and poignant lyrics help you into a state of mind that flows right past melancholy and into redemption. Mantras that get at the roots of love, is what Lawrence Leatherwood’s debut effort, Leatherwood is all about.
